Only 9 more days to go now, then its all over yay!

4 To Go!

Physics is OVER, and it was crap but yeah thats because I hate Physics.

Next up is Maths Studies, thats also gonna suck but probally not as bad and after that I won’t have to worry about much…

A Reminder

Looking back over the blog archives at this time last year and two years ago…

Marks this blog’s 2nd birthday. Joy!

The day before Physics

Well its the night before the Physics exam and well, I don’t feel prepared at all and theres a high chance of failing even though I’ve spent most of the day going through past exam papers. I should have started earlier.

After Physics is Maths Studies on a Thursday. That too is going to suck like Physics. Overall, theres not much I can do now and I just have to go in and answer everything I can. After Thursday theres only IT, Music and Maths Apps left which is perfectly fine because they actually have a high chance of doing well :p

Currently I’m doubting if I’ll even make my TER that I need (~66.60) for:

Bachelor of Computer and Information Science, Bachelor of Business (Commercial Law) @ UniSA

However, I hope I’m just underestimating myself.

In other news, a new build of WLM leaked (8.0.0328) and can be downloaded at the usual folder.

Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0290

MSN Messenger is no more. Windows Live Messenger is to take its place when the next version comes out. This is the equivilent to MSN Messenger 8.0.

Thehotfix.net put up some screenshots yesterday afternoon of the new messenger application and a couple of hours later the build 8.0.0290 was released to testers and leaked to the Internet. This build is extremely RAM consuming and buggy as hell at the moment. Without a patch users that aren’t beta testers ARE NOT able to login due to account restrictions.

Windows Live Messenger uses the MSN Protocol v13 and MSN Messenger 7.5 uses v12. People have forced the client to use the v12 protocol via hex editing etc. however, contacts appear offline due to the differences in protocol. HOWEVER, someone has created a “proxy” that converts the v13 packets to v12 and vice versa etc. This is currently the only way to connect to MSN with the new client. This involves keeping an application open at the same time as the new build which can become annoying.

I’m sure someone will patch it properly soon, and ill probally upload it too…

Of course you can find the new build and the “proxy” type patch @ http://digitaldj.net/msn8. Mess.be have screenshots of this build in action.

I also created an ad-patch for this build but haven’t been bothered to upload it, ask me for it if you desperatly want it.

Update: A patch is now available that allows signing in with all features without the use of a proxy. I have uploaded the patch

Exams Soon…

Well the final exams are in less than a week and I have to sit through 5 fricken exams.

First up is Physics on Thursday (8th November), then Math Studies (9th November). Then I get a small break for IT on the 16th then Music on the 23rd. Finally I have to do the school based Maths Apps exam on the 24th :(

I haven’t really started to study for Physics but Ive done at least 6/8ths of Maths which is good I suppose..

On the tech news front theres a been a few big pieces of news:

1. Office 12 Build 3111 leaked to the web
2. Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0 has RTMed and been released on MSDN
3. Blizzard announces World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
4. Serv-U 6.1.0.4 just came out…

I have Office 12 here sitting on my desktop and I’ll try it out at some stage but I’m sure its buggy as hell and pretty much unuseable.

However, WoW: TBR looks fricken awesome and makes me wanna roll horde just to become a blood elf. Theres gonna be the opening of the dark portal to a new continent called the Outland and the level cap is being raised to only 70 which is good to hear. Theres another race for the aliance however, it hasn’t been annouced yet but I have a feeling it has something to do with a panda for some reason.

Blizzard has put up the Burning Crusade website at: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/

Some new news!

Its time for a post….

The shoutbox yesterday got absolutely hammered by spam bots so I decided to change the URL and the software. Also exams are in about a week and I have a ton of study for physics and maths to do, until then, my blogging will not be active again :p

So anyway, needs tech news:

Theres been a fricken ton of new games released, F.E.A.R, Quake 4, HL2: Lost Coast, Worms 4, TOCA2, COD2 just to name a few.

Over the last few days a new version of MSN Messenger 7 (b311) was released. The latest version of Stuffplug, MSN and MsgPlus can be downloaded from Here

Winamp 5.111 was released not long ago with a few minor bugfixes.

MS Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and ASP.net 2.0 have all RTMed and should be on MSDN soon.

The tech news has been slowly coming in lately, not too much big news, however, gaming seems to be taking over with so many new games being released over the past few months.

The biggest news was probally when Windows Vista build 5231 leaked to the Internet by BetasIRC, this was a Winmain build. A few days after MS released it on connect as an IDX build, so both have slightly different build numbers. I haven’t checked out either build yet but I hear it has a few fixes and a couple of features that were shown off at PDC are in it now.

On a personal note, after being in Foretold (WoW Guild) for about 6 months, possibly more, both Sunee and I left for The Rebirth an all Australian guild to overcome the time differences so that it is finally possible for us to run end game instances.

That’ll do for now, just can’t for exams to finish on the 24th of November. All school lessons finished today, just gotta revise now.

Archives

Last night I was messing around with archive.org, looking at old versions of the site. Then I realised, I wiped my old blog database and installed this one, hence, all my old blogs were gone. Using the archive I managed to grap all the blogs and comments from as far back as November 2003. Feel free to use the archives on the side of the page and browse through the old crap bloggings as you wish. Instead of v6 I may relaunch my old designs, but I’m not sure.

Windows Vista 5219 Is Here!

Thats right, just a couple of hours ago WinBeta leaked the PDC DVD of Vista 5219 Ultimate Edition weighing in at 2.82GB.

For this, the build string is: 5219.winmain_idx02.050830-2010

Unfortunatly, MSDN and Connect users won’t get this till tomorrow night or slightly after that. Unfortunatly, the sidebar is not included in this build unlike the leaked screenshots – this is a slightly later build without it. WinBeta has some screenshots and things up here.

From WinBeta’s quick review:

What’s not here: SideBar, Windows Picture Library, Game Performance Tweaker and MovieMaker to name a few.

What’s new here: Media Center, Tablet PC components, Safedocs, new games, a whole bunch of drivers. Multiple versions of Vista in one single file, installs are based on the install key.

Media Center?! Wow, didn’t expect that, I have to install this on my home PC tomorrow night.

Quick Note: Although this build is labled BETA 2, it is NOT, this is a pre-beta 2 CTP (Community Technology Preview).

Also The SIms 2 Nightlife leaked also, but who cares %D
